A few words about Robert Glen

Rob was born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya. His life has been filled with adventures in the African wilderness. Initially working in his Nairobi studio and making many trips into the field to study animal subjects, he found more and more that the distance from the subjects to his studio made a big difference to maintaining essence.

He changed this, when 1987, he started on a two year project among Somali nomads with camels in the North east of Kenya.

He made 43 bronzes of the people and their camels in this period and had some very exciting times. After this experience He decided  to live permanently in the field and so began working from mobile camps.

He now lives and works in Ruaha National Park, Tanzania, where he has been for  the past 25 years with his partner, artist and writer, Sue Stolberger.

Robs home there consists of a tent for living, and a trailer as a studio. He is able to capture the true essence of the animals, as he works entirely from the life around him.
